We are pleased to advise you that one of the founders of our law firm, Dr. Andrzej W. Kawecki, has been appointed to the position of Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Poland.
Singapore has not had a permanent diplomatic presence in Poland to date. The nomination of Dr. Kawecki opens a new chapter in bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Singapore and the Republic of Poland, promised by the President of Singapore, Tony Tan Keng Yam during his visit to Poland in May 2017. This step reflects the hope of both countries that an enhanced diplomatic relationship will contribute
to a material expansion of their economic exchange.
Dr. Kawecki’s nomination to the post of Honorary Consul General of Singapore, a country with one of the most dynamic and modern economies in the Far East, reflects in our belief an acknowledgement by the Singapore government of Dr. Kawecki’s personal professional achievements and his impeccable opinion within the Polish legal circles, as well as the professional position on that market of Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak. According to the mutual agreement Dr. Kawecki continues his practice within SK&S whilst holding his new position.
The organizational steps have been already taken enabling the Consulate to commence traditional consular functions and expect to complete this process in the next couple of months. The Singapore government is also planning an official opening of the Consulate, scheduled for September 2019, in the presence of the representatives of both states, the diplomatic corps and business.
The government of Singapore hopes that the activities of the Honorary Consul will facilitate entry into Singapore of Polish enterprises interested in expanding into the Far East market and of the Singaporean businesses interested in investing in our country. To this end, Dr. Kawecki intends to undertake in the coming months a number of initiatives designed to assist firms from both countries in exploring their mutual markets, ultimately, within the framework of a future bilateral chamber of commerce and trade. Dr. Kawecki’s visit to Singapore in July should allow him to establish valuable contacts with the representatives of this country’s governmental agencies, business organizations and renowned law firms, which should serve well Polish firms planning investing in Singapore.
On the basis of exemplary relations between Singapore and other member countries of the ASEAN organization, these contacts could also facilitate Polish firms’ entry to the much larger ASEAN market, including, in particular, Indonesia, Malesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
