Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak’s team advised Nordea Bank Polska on its post-completion integration with PKO Bank Polski following its acquisition by the latter. Marcin Olechowski led advice to the sponsor on the PLN129m financing of a wind farm.

Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak’s lawyers are ‘professional, experienced, reliable and effective’. The department is headed by Robert Gawałkiewicz and includes Marcin Olechowski, Highlights for the firm included advising RSA Insurance Group on the sale of Link4 to PZU for €90m, and handling Goodyear’s merger with a Polish subsidiary.

  • Competition/antitrust

Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak’s ‘excellent’ team is ‘responsive and has a good understanding of the law and the authorities’. The group represented Royal Canin Polska in appealing a UOKiK decision, and defended the Swatch Group against allegations of price-fixing. Practice head Krzysztof Kanton ‘anticipates questions before they are asked’.

  • Dispute resolution

At Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak, practice head Dariusz Skuza represented potato starch producer Pepees in litigation with its shareholder at the Supreme Court. Rafał Waszkiewicz acted for consulting company WorleyParsons in proceedings related to preparations for Poland’s first nuclear power plant, and represented SRB Civil Engineering and others in litigation against GDDKiA. Tomasz Konopka defends white-collar criminal cases.

  • Employment

Roch Pałubicki’s team at Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak handled the employment aspects of Auchan’s acquisition of 49 hypermarkets. The team is frequently instructed by clients to handle litigation and assist with redundancies.

  • Energy and natural resources

Krzysztof Cichocki’s team at Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak represented ENEA before the Supreme Court in a dispute with the Energy Regulatory Authority, and advised Eneris Poland on the acquisition of Veolia Usługi dla Środowiska. The Ministry for the Environment is also a client.

  • Intellectual property

Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak’s clients include Eurocash, which it represented in trade mark disputes and an unfair competition case; Mazda, for which it handled a trade mark infringement case; and ING Bank. Szymon Gogulski and Ewa Skrzydło-Tefelska head the practice, which also handles software licensing disputes and matters for clients in the life sciences sector.

Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak’s practice is led by Jarosław Bieroński. The firm acts for a number of major banks, including Alior Polska, which it advised on the sale of part of its real estate management business.
